As part of his election campaign in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a mass marriage event in Bhavnagar where 552 women will get married.

In his first visit to Gujarat after the announcement of Assembly election dates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a mass marriage event in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar today.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister kicked off his Gujarat Assembly poll campaign and arrested that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will retain power in the state.

In the mass marriage event, - 'Papa Ni Pari' Lagnotsav 2022' - as many as 552 girls without father will get married. All the girls belong to different communities and were brought up as orphans.

The girls who will get married in the event belong to different states of the country, including some from Rajasthan, Orissa and Maharashtra.

Bhavnagar falls under Gujarat's Saurashtra belt. There are a total of seven assembly seats in the area, out of which the BJP is in power in six and Congress in one.
