Donovan Mitchell, a star with the Jazz, is traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for three players and three first-round picks in return.

Donovan Mitchell, a three-time All-Star who averaged over 25 points per game over the previous two seasons, acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, increased the Cavaliers' ceiling right away

Donovan Mitchell, aged 25, has played for the Utah Jazz for five years and has averaged 23.9 points and 4.5 assists per game. He has also been an All-Star the last three seasons.

Mitchell was actively sought after by Cleveland Cavaliers after the Knicks momentarily withdrew from negotiations on Monday night. On Thursday Cleveland acquired Mitchell in a trade with the Utah Jazz

Mitchell is upset that the Knicks, a team he grew up supporting and one that is near to his family, did not choose him, but he doesn't give any impression of disliking the idea of playing in Cleveland

For Mitchell, Cleveland made significant sacrifices. Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, Collin Sexton, three first-round picks, and two pick swaps were part of the deal Cleveland made to get the All-Star.

Mitchell desired to leave Utah. With  Cleveland he has a chance to win the East in a few years. Hence, with three years left on his deal and a player-option for a fourth, he may push his way out.
