Russia's largest-ever cyberattack targets a state-owned bank

The greatest cyberattack in its history was disclosed by VTB, the second-largest state-owned bank in Russia.
According to officials, the bank was fending off a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, in which hackers try to paralyze a network by flooding it with unusually large amounts of data traffic. VTB warned that access to its website and mobile app might be hampered.
Because of the events in Ukraine, Russian government organizations and state-owned businesses have been attacked; as a result, the websites of the Kremlin, flagship airline Aeroflot, and significant lender Sberbank have had outages or temporary access problems.
