President Volodymyr Zelenskyy travels from Ukraine to the US to meet with President Biden

In his first known journey outside of his country since the start of the Russia War, the Ukrainian leader is slated to address the US Congress.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, was traveling to Washington for a meeting with Joe Biden and to address the US Congress. This was his first known journey outside of the nation since the Russian invasion started in February.
Zelenskyy stated on his Twitter account on Wednesday that the goal of the trip was to meet with Biden and discuss ways to boost Ukraine's defense and resilience capabilities.
After 10 months of a horrific war that has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and injuries on both sides of the conflict as well as damage for Ukrainian people, the extremely sensitive tour is taking place.
The Kremlin claimed that the visit would be useless and that there was no likelihood of Russia and Kiev holding peace talks.
"Weapons are still being delivered, and their variety is increasing. Of course, all of this contributes to the conflict being worse. In a conference call with reporters about Western arms deliveries to Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov remarked, "This does not augur well for Ukraine."
The Pentagon is getting ready to transfer Patriot surface-to-air missiles to Ukraine so that it can defend itself, and US lawmakers are preparing to vote on a year-end spending plan that contains roughly $45 billion in emergency assistance.
Zelenskyy left for abroad after undertaking a risky and perilous journey on Tuesday to the city of Bakhmut in Ukraine's disputed Donetsk province, which he described as the hotspot on the 1,300-km (800-mile) front line of the conflict. As artillery blasted in the background, Putin hailed the Ukrainian military for their "courage, resilience, and strength."
It was "very significant" to travel to the US after visiting Bakhmut, according to Mykhailo Podolyak, the presidential adviser for Ukraine.
“Firstly, both the visit itself and the level of planned meetings unequivocally testify to the high degree of trust between the countries. Secondly, this finally puts an end to the attempts by the Russian side … to prove an allegedly growing cooling in our bilateral relations,” he told the Reuters news agency.
Ukraine needs “… weapons, weapons and more weapons. It is important to personally explain why we need certain types of weapons. In particular, armoured vehicles, the latest missile defence systems and long-range missiles”, he added.
