Representative Mayra Flores of Texas, a Republican, said that Nancy Pelosi pushed her daughter at a photo op last week. Pelosi's staff has reacted.
A video of the incident, which happened on June 21 during Flores' swearing-in ceremony, was quickly posted on social media. Many people who posted the video criticized Pelosi, with some pointing out that she looked to push the young child.

Pelosi's deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, however, asserted that the politician was merely attempting to ensure that the little child was not obscured in the image.
It's disappointing to see "news sites" that are more knowledgeable distort the Speaker's efforts to ensure that Rep. Flores' girls weren't obscured behind her in all of the photographs of the event.
The photo was snapped, and the 30-second video that went viral last week started right away. Between Flores and Pelosi, a man can be heard asking their pastor to enter the frame for another picture.
To Pelosi's right, the Flores youngster can be seen standing somewhat behind the House speaker. Pelosi motions for the pastor to enter the frame for the following photo, takes a brief glance at the young girl, and then moves her forearm to the right.
In a tweet, Flores expressed her pride in her daughter for "not letting" the California Democrat's action "faze her."
The child "continued to grin and pose for the picture like a Queen," according to Flores' tweet, which went on to compliment her. The article's conclusion was that "No kid should be pushed aside for a photo opportunity. Period!!"
During the ceremony, Flores was also sworn in formally, making her the first congresswoman of Mexican descent.
According to her biography, Flores was born in Burgos, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and immigrated to the US lawfully when she was 6 years old. She later obtained naturalization as an American citizen.
She resided in the Rio Grande Valley, San Benito, and Memphis regions of Texas for the majority of her life.
