Pakistan police officer killed in suicide car bombing; others injured

Tehreek-e- An explosion that occurred close to Islamabad's police headquarters is being blamed on the Taliban Pakistan.
According to sources, a suicide car explosion at a checkpoint in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, resulted in the deaths of at least one police officer and numerous injuries.
In a text message supplied to a reporter for the Reuters news agency, the militant Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), commonly known as the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the incident that happened on Friday.
On a major thoroughfare that connects to government buildings containing the nation's parliament and other offices, the bombing occurred close to the police headquarters. According to reports, the explosion injured two civilians and at least four police officers.
The interior ministry said in a statement without providing any other information that the automobile used in the attack was loaded with explosives and traveling for a significant target in Islamabad.
According to "our preliminary information," there were a guy and a lady in the car, Islamabad operations police commander Sohail Zafar informed reporters. When police attempted to stop the car at the checkpoint, he claimed, it did not stop.
"The occupants of the automobile blew it up as they chased it. It was a suicide bombing, Zafar continued.
According to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, "the car would have inflicted enormous casualties" if it had "reached its goal," as reported by Geo News TV.
Due to fears of such an assault, the nation's capital was placed on high alert. However, prompt action prevented a major catastrophe, according to the minister.
Since they began their conflict with the Pakistani government in 2007, the TTP has launched dozens of assaults against both security personnel and innocent citizens.
It announced the termination of a truce reached with the government in June last month.
The bombing on Friday occurred two days after a military operation by Pakistan killed dozens of TTP fighters following a siege at a counterterrorism center in Bannu, in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
