In Australia, a midair helicopter collision claimed four lives.

When two helicopters collided at Queensland state's Sea World amusement park, one of them seemed to be taking off and the other to be landing.
Four people were killed and three others were badly injured after two helicopters collided in a popular tourist area in Australia. Beachgoers enjoying the waves in the southern summertime rushed to help.
At a news conference on Monday, acting Queensland state police inspector Gary Worrell said that it looked that one aircraft was taking off and the other was landing when they collided close to the Sea World theme park in Main Beach, a northern Gold Coast beach.
“Those two aircraft, when collided, have crash landed, and landed, on the sandbank just out from Sea World resort,” Gary Worrell said.
“As a result of that, four people have lost their lives today,” he said. “Three others are critical in hospital.”
While one helicopter successfully touched down on a sandbar, the other's wreckage was dispersed throughout what the police characterized as a difficult-to-access location. They were all passengers in the downed helicopter, including the three people who were critically hurt.
Members of the public and police attempted to rescue the victims from the upside-down aircraft, Worrell added. They also started administering first aid.
Jet ski riders, family boaters, and regular citizens flocked to help these people.
Medical help is also being provided to passengers in the other helicopter, which lost its windscreen in the collision.
