Constance Wu Claims She Tried Suicide Due To Twitter Backlash.

Constance Wu, who is most known for her work in Hustlers and Crazy Rich Asians, has recently made an appearance on social media after a three-year sabbatical, explaining that her absence was caused by an attempt on her own life that she made after getting harsh criticism online in 2019.
When I made irresponsible comments regarding the renewal of my TV program three years ago, it sparked indignation and internet humiliation that became rather harsh, Wu stated on Twitter. As a result, Wu was reluctant to return to social media.
She wrote, "I was frightened to get back on social media because I nearly died from it."
I felt terrible about what I'd said, and after receiving a few direct messages from other Asian actresses accusing me of defiling the Asian American community, I began to believe that I didn't deserve to live.
That they'd be better off without me and that I was a disgrace to AsAms.
She noted that after the experience, she "reassessed a lot" and decided to put her acting career on pause in order to concentrate on her mental health.
Although Asian Americans are eager to applaud victories in representation, there is a lot of avoidance in our society, according to the speaker.
Even my tweets turned into such a sensitive topic that the majority of my AsAm colleagues decided to avoid or ice me out.

"I'll admit that it hurt a lot, but it also made me realize how crucial it is to reach out to and show support to those who are struggling.
"I feel okay enough to return on here after taking a little break from Hollywood and receiving a lot of therapy" (at least for a little bit).

And even though I'm afraid, I've decided that I owe it to the version of myself from three years ago to have courage and tell my experience in the hopes that it would encourage someone else to do the same.
Constance Wu is who?
Wu gained notoriety in the ABC America comedy Fresh Off the Boat, for which she received four nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy Series from the Critics' Choice Awards.
For her part in Crazy Rich Asians, she became the first Asian woman to be nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical in more than 40 years.
For the movie, she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Satellite Award, and a Critics' Choice Award.
She appeared in the 2019 crime drama Hustlers starring Jennifer Lopez.
She has only had a few voiceover and cameo appearances over the past year, but this month saw the premiere of the Amazon action series The Terminal List, in which she co-stars with actor Chris Pratt.
