Can fruits and Milk be consumed together as per Ayurveda?

5000+ years old Ayurveda says our health is determined by what we eat and sometimes the wrong food combination can lead to several disorders in our body.
Ayurveda does not favour mixing fruits and milk This is because milk has heavier energy and contain protein and fats which digest much slower than fruits. Due to this the digestion of a fruit will get delayed, and ferment in your tract which could lead to poor gut health. To prevent indigestion and simply optimize your body’s absorption of vitamins and minerals from fruit make sure you consume them on an empty stomach.
Milk acts as coolant while fruits on the hand such as lime, pineapple, banana, oranges, tangerine, strawberries etc produce heat during the process of digestion. These fruits become sour when broken down in the stomach and when combined with milk, their mutual antagonistic properties calms the digestive fire. (Our stomach needs strong digestive fire to optimize digestion). Calm digestive fire will lead to toxin synthesis as a result the gut flora will become unbalanced leading to allergies, phlegm, cough.
Not just sour fruits, Milk should also not be consumed with ripe and sweet fruits. An interval of minimum 2 hours is required between the consumption of milk and fruits. The negative impact may not show up right away but in the long run it will certainly confuse the intelligence of our cells and develop health issues and variety of diseases.
